Should I do anything special before getting a henna?

What should I do to get the best color?

* If possible, shower before your appointment but do not luffa/exfoliate excessively.
* Do not apply any lotions to the area to be henna'd.
* Do not get a spray tan or apply makeup to the area to be henna'd
* Be comfortable. Flip-flops and loose fitting/comfortable clothing that allows access to the area to be henna'd will make things easier.

How should I plan for Wedding Mehndi?

* Have waxing and manicures done in advance of your henna appointment by two days.
* Nail polish colors such as copper, gold, bronze, dark red or deep burgundy for a dramatic look. Or for an elegant look try a classic French manicure or sheer nude to go with your henna.
* The best time to have an appointment is 48-72 hours prior to your wedding day. This will give you the freshest and darkest color.
* Brides sometimes prefer to have their Mehndi done a day before the rest of the bridal party if you are having them participate in the henna. This will allow you to relax or take care of any last minute details.
* Allow a minimum of 2-4 hours for a "standard" bridal henna session, 6 hours for more extensive work.
