Is henna safe and what is black henna?

Henna Junkie does NOT use black henna! We use all natural henna which stains brown. Please read more info about what black henna is below and why it is not safe.

What is natural henna is:
Henna is one of the oldest cosmetics ever used and is very safe. We at Henna Junkie apply henna to people age six and over. Henna can be a wonderful blessing for pregnant women. Please let us know if you are expecting as we use a special blend of henna while preparing for these appointments.
Please be aware of artist using Black Henna, true henna smells grassy and herbal and is a green paste that stains an orange-red-brown which takes hours to develop. Henna Junkie only uses natural henna and 100% pure essential oils for a beautiful color and a safe experience.

What black henna is:
Black Henna contains PPD (para-phenylenediamine) which is a black chemical dye that is used is used to make KEVLAR®, epoxycoatings, including fungicides, corrosion inhibitors, urethane coatings, rubber chemicals, hair dyes and polyurethane. PPD is a toxin that can get into the bloodstream through the skin. It can cause damage to kidneys, liver, skin and possibly even cancer.
